Wed Feb 22 – Wednesday Special Tap: Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine Style Ale Bigfoot is one of the classic American-style Barleywines, very popular still today with more and more Barleywines on the market. A true West Coast-style ale, Sierra Nevada uses ample amounts of Chinook, Centennial, and Cascade hops, including massive dry hopping, for a total of 90 IBUs. For this Wednesday Special Tap, we’ve saved a bit of a keg from last year’s release to compare with this year’s fresh keg. Soon after release, Bigfoot is hoppy to the point of an Imperial IPA, while the cellared version has mellowed a bit, giving the malt character greater opportunity to develop and present itself more.
