We’ll have their special stemmed glasses for you to keep on this special night, as we serve kegs of some of their new beers and and two rare kegs from the past. These glasses were specially designed by New Belgium to enhance the appearance, aroma, flavor, and mouthfeel of their ales, and we’re excited to serve some very worthy beers for these glasses. The area rep. from the brewery will be at the pub with swag, ready to talk about innovation from one of our favorite out of state breweries.

The Lips of Faith series is comprised of limited release beers, sometimes only released once. What these beers share is a drive for innovation and creativity, products they’ve described as more “esoteric” as compared to their more regular offerings. Here’s some more info on the what we’ll be serving:

Cocoa Molé is a brand new ale, the base of which is a 9% ABV brown ale with reddish hue, provided by the use of Caramel, Chocolate, and Dark Chocolate malts. Chocolate Rye is also in the mix, an earthy malt many of you have come to know and love from our House Beers, Vulcan and Vector. To this, cocoa, cinnamon, and three types of chilies create a lively and well-rounded ale that tickles the senses.

Biere de Mars was once a Spring seasonal many years ago, and the brewery is happy to now re-release it in their Lips of Faith series. The style draws inspiration from the hearty farmhouse ales of Southern Belgium and Northern France, a lesser-known style referred to as Biere de Garde. The beer is a gorgeous hazy orange with an alluring aroma from farmhouse-style yeasts, complemented by lemon peel and lemon verbena. The body is satisfying, aided by the use of oats and wheat. Biere de Mars finishes dry due to the work of Saison yeast and a distinctive wild yeast called Brettanomyces, imparting complexity and subtlety for which the style is known.

Super Cru was brewed for their 20th Anniversary and pays homage to not only their first beer and bestseller, Fat Tire, but also to the tradition of “Grand Cru” in Belgium, a term that denotes limited production and a stronger, more elaborate version of a beer. At 10% ABV, it’s brewed with roughly twice the amount of malt and hops as Fat Tire, to which they add Asian pear juice and ferment with a Belgian Saison yeast. Kegged April 2011, time in has done this one well!

10.10.10 is a creation that truly embodies the esoteric nature of their head brewers and the Lips of Faith series. With it’s rarity, very little information was released on this beer, but we do know that it was brewed on October 10, 2010 using 10 ingredients, including Polish noble hops, black pepper, grains of paradise, and a lager yeast. Given its 10% ABV and list of ingredients, it’s extended cellaring time in the keg should do it well. Additionally, this beer was only released once, and only on draft, so don’t miss this one!
