Join Black Star Co-op for our very first “Irrational” dinner menu!
Following on the model of our house beers, which are split into a “Rational” and an “Irrational” series, our kitchen will periodically offer an Irrational Menu. The items on the Irrational Menu will be strictly seasonal and local in character.
This dinner for Austin Beer Week will feature the first Irrational output of our kitchen combined with a flight of beers paired for each course. We’ll serve four courses, each with a dish and a beer. Introductions to each course will be made by members of our Kitchen and Beer Teams respectively.
Menu
Course 1: Chef’s selection snack plate paired with Jester King’s “Commercial Suicide,” an oak-aged English mild ale
Course 2: Beet Salad paired with the Independence Saison
Course 3: Texas Surf & Turf – Strube Ranch Wagyu ribeye, beer battered gulf shrimp and seasoned chips paired with Thirsty Planet’s “Thirsty Goat” amber ale
Course 4: Bacon Toffee paired with the (512) Brandy Barrel Aged ONE.2
Seating is banquet style in two services, the first at 6PM and the second at 8PM. Tickets are $40 per person, and will be offered first to Member-Owners of Black Star Co-op. Non members interested in attending the Beer Dinner can get on a waiting list or join the Co-op!
Finally, while we are proud to offer many vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options on our menu, this Beer Dinner will not be vegetarian or gluten free.
Please call (512) 452-BEER to make a reservation.

Hi,
Can someone please post the menu and beer pairings and also send the same to the members? It might be a bit late, but members I have talked to haven’t seen anything to help them make a decision as to whether to attend and given the other events happening this week I think Blackstar has missed an opportunity to both garner attention and fill seats.
Steven says:
George,
We just updated the post with the menu and beer pairings. We wanted to make sure we had the Texas Wagyu beef and Jester King beers in stock before going public with it.
I hope see you tomorrow!
