Black Star Co-op is currently hiring for the Kitchen and Pub Teams.
Pub Team Member
Hey, we’re looking for a friendly, energetic, responsible person to join our Pub Team. The Pub Team handles all front of house operations with a focus on exceptional customer service.
This is a permanent full-time position, and will be apprenticeship track for a voting Workers’ Assembly member position. Black Star Co-op’s Workers’ Assembly is democratically self-managed, meaning workers participate in the operations of the Co-op.
The starting wage is $12.00/hr, with an increase to $13.10/hr after the initial three month trial period.
What You’ll Do:
Provide exceptional customer service.
Take food and beverage orders from patrons.
Run orders to seated patrons.
Bus tables and return dishes to kitchen.
Clean and sterilize glassware, equipment, and facilities.
Stock front of house items, assist in inventory management, and aid in deliveries.
Learn and be able to talk about all of our products and services.
Enlist new members to the co-op.
Participate in regular meetings and trainings.
What You’ll Need:
Customer service experience.
A publicly outgoing, friendly, and helpful personality.
Money handling experience.
Flexibility in scheduling.
Ability to communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully at all times.
TABC and Food Handlers certification.
A basic knowledge of craft beer.
Interest in the cooperative economy.
Experience in a worker co-op or other democratic workplace
$12.00/hr + benefits

Kitchen Team cook prepare all menu items from scratch daily using locally sourced produce and proteins, and are responsible for maintaining a high level of productivity in a fast-paced, self-managed working environment. Our menu is seasonal, and features regional and classic pub fare.
In addition to daily job duties, attendance at team and full staff meetings are mandatory. A minimum of three years of industry experience is preferred.
