By now you’ve probably met our long-time Pub Team member, Guy. We love him, and judging by all the comment cards praising his name, we think you do too.

WHAT DO YOU DO AT BLACK STAR?
I am a proud Pub Team member! We all do everything from knowing all the awesome regulars to fixing random stuff that breaks. I have fun special tasks like getting member owners’ art work on the north wall and writing the pub team meeting agendas. My favorite part of my shift is working around the speed of sound during a busy service. I’m currently looking into starting a production of Black Star: The Musical.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I am a from the Northeast… of the US, not Texas. The land of bean filled chili. A place where the cold winters keep the bugs under six inches.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE STYLE OF BEER?
I’m moody, so it can vary depending on the pressure of the atmosphere or how many crickets are around. Over all, I love ESBs, IPAs. and good hoppy pilsners.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE BEER CURRENTLY ON TAP AT THE CO-OP?
Axiom is killing it in my mind! Earthy rye body, balanced with sharp hop bite and a clean lager finish. Awesome after a long shift! [Editor's Note: I had Guy fill this out last month, and Axiom is long gone. But it was good, no?]

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE LATE NIGHT/DRUNK SNACK?
Corn chips, in mountain form. As long as you eat the mountain there’s no clean up.

WHAT’S THE LAST BOOK YOU READ?
Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential. I used to cook professionally, and a couple chapters take place in my home town of Provincetown, Massachusetts!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE COOPERATIVE PRINCIPLE AND WHY?
Hmmm, I love co-ops’ autonomy and independence. But as a favorite, concern for the community is very important to me. I love what we do for Austin and Central Texas: providing jobs for our community and keeping our spendings to organizations that Black Star believes in.

WHAT’S BETTER, PIE OR CAKE?
That question is a piece of cake. Pie!

IF YOU WERE A SUPER HERO, WHAT WOULD BE YOUR SPECIAL ABILITY?
To wake up and be ready to kick butt in an instant. I wouldn’t actually kick people’s butt’s though. I would be called Coffee Man.

AND FINALLY, WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WORKING AT THE CO-OP?
Talking about and having access to so many amazing beers! There’s always something new and different pouring. And of course working for something that I strongly believe in!! Drinking the Cool-Aid has never tasted better!
