I have so much to be thankful for at this time of year, but I want to spend a few minutes to express gratitude for my Co-op. First, I love where I work. It feels amazing to come to work each day at a place that shares my values, where I can work with dignity and feel empowered, and where I know I’m contributing to my community in a meaningful way.
Second, I love the people that make up our co-op and I’m grateful to the following:
Steven, Jeff, Karinne, Johnny, and Michael: Thank you for believing in me. There were times when I doubted my ability to pull off the things required of me in order to take Black Star from an idea to a physical brewpub, but you all seemed to think we could do it… and we did!
To the amazing people I work with everyday: Jeff, Johnny, Karinne, JJ, Chris, Kevin, Ryan, Nicole, Guy, Susan, Justin, Colette, Rie, Anthony, Dan, Mike, Kristin, and Owen. You all make work fun, which is something I didn’t know was possible.
To my fellow Board Members: Mark, Jake, Colin, Donald, Therese, Andy, Stuart, Jessica, and now Erin and Johnny. Beyond a coffee/crossword puzzle/brunch combo, there’s nothing else that could get me out of the house before noon on a Sunday. I’m proud to serve the Member-Owners of our Co-op with you.
To all the Member-Owners that volunteer and show up to meetings and events, you all make Black Star Co-op great and I am continuously impressed with our not-so-little community of craft beer lovers. I love it when a plan comes together, even if it takes four or five years. I am so happy every time I walk in the door of my brewpub, see my friends and fellow owners and happy guests enjoying the great food and the amazing beers, from our brew kettle and beyond. A pub and a patio full of patrons seems to have become the norm, as word gets out about the locally-sourced food and hand crafted brews.
Things are really firing on all cylinders.
