Get Involved in Your Co-op

Get more out of your Co-op by actively participating in it! We thrive when our community is engaged and supportive. Luckily, there are lots of great ways to get involved at Black Star Co-op. Here are just a few:

  • Come to Board Meetings and attend other Board sponsored events
  • Tell your friends to join the Co-op
  • Serve on Committees and the Board of Directors
  • Put a Black Star Co-op sticker on your car/bike/backpack/other visible area
  • Volunteer (see below)

    • Keep current on what’s happening and read about events, beers, food, our community, and more via our website and from these publications/media sources:

    • Like us on Facebook and subscribe to our updates
    • Follow us on Twitter
    • Subscribe to our email lists and read the monthly e-newsletter

    Volunteering

    We can often use help from the community, and volunteering your time, expertise, or resources can be an easy and fun way to get involved. The spirit of volunteerism and community is one of the things that makes cooperatives great! Over the past 5 years, we’ve utilized volunteers for many things: beer socials and events; logo redesign; menu planning; interior design; beer forums; and much more.  At this point in our history, we still have a place for volunteers and hope to build more opportunities in the future. Some opportunties are on-going projects, while others are for specified events. Here are a list of current opportunities:

    • TABC certified volunteers to pour at the Local Brew Fest on December 10th
    • Volunteers for the Anniversary Party, following the Local Brew Fest, on December 10th

    We also have some outstanding things around the Co-op that we would love to get done!  Please let us know if you have skills in any of the following areas:

    • HTML
    • Outdoor Surface Painting
    • Carpentry
    • Art

      It would be nice if the board meeting were posted in an easy to find area. Couldn’t locate it last time I tried and no one at the Co-Op knew when it was.

        The Board meetings are every third Sunday of the month at 11:00 in the brewpub. We are really good about posting a reminder and agenda at least 7 days before the meetings. Hope to see you soon!
