tap handle
Yes, that’s a bad picture, but we now have a prototype Black Star tap handle! About 2 years ago, my father and I were sitting in my favorite brewpub Barley’s, downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was my birthday (December 23rd), and the birthday-beers were a-flowin’! My dad and I, who are constant analyzers, starting thinking about the ergonomics, functionality, and marketing aspects of the tap handles sitting in front of us. One napkin drawing led to another, and soon enough, we had our tap handle design! It may be a little hard to see in the picture, but the body of the handle is clear, hollow acrylic with beer ingredients inside. The idea is that for each house beer we have on tap, the actual, proportional ingredients of that beer will be inside the handle. No other crazy design, like an angry moon or a cat dressed as a pirate, will be displayed on the tap handle…just the true, honest-to-goodness ingredients of the beer. Cool, eh?

  • I like the simplistic/rootsy type of concept. Barley’s is a good spot, was in Columbus on business and a local buddy took me there for some pre-hockey beers, and then of course post-hockey beers. Was very tasty!

  • I think we should get those people who write names on grains of rice and write all the vested members names on the grains.
