This Saturday, May 1st, CapitalMetro is running a full day test of MetroRail service. We hope this test is a prelude to regular weekend service, and to help encourage ridership, are holding an open house tomorrow afternoon.

We’d like to invite you to our development office to learn about the world’s first co-operatively owned brewpub, our offering of Member-Investor Shares, and take a tour of the brewpub space. We’re just about to break ground, so this will be one of the final opportunities to have a tour before it becomes an off-limits construction zone.

The trains will run hourly in each direction from 11AM to 11PM, and we’ll be here from 1-5 PM. Look for us on the platform at the Crestview Station. The full train schedule is available here.

That’s right, in an effort to bring out more of our beer-loving women members, we’ve created a special Bar Hours with the Board just for them! Leave your male friends behind so the ladies can chat amongst themselves. Sorry, guys, you’ll have to wait for the next Bar Hours to attend.

On Thursday April 29th Bar Hours with the Board will be in downtown Austin at the Ginger Man. The Ginger Man is located at 301 Lavaca St and we’ll be there from 7-9 PM.

As you know, these events are not formal meetings, but they are a great opportunity for member-owners (and prospective new members-owners!) to come share a pint with some of our Directors and enhance the membership linkage of our Co-op.

This meeting is round 3 of the design charrette for the new Black Star Co-op logo. We will review the 3 logo finalists and hopefully come to a consensus for the logo we submit to the Workers’ Assembly.

A couple weeks ago, Black Star sent out an announcement for new logo submissions. We got some great, unique designs from the membership! On April 14th, members of the Graphic Design team as well as a handful of other interested individuals met at the Black Star office to discuss all the logo submissions. We all agreed that we were on the right track and chose 5 top logos to refine. We won’t reveal those 5 yet, but after another round of discussion, hopefully we’ll have a couple logos to show the membership for feedback. Stay tuned for that!

The Board of Directors will hold its monthly meeting for May 2010 on Saturday, May 8th. The meeting will be held at the Co-op’s development office, across the street from the brewpub location, and will start at noon.

Black Star Co-op has been invited to participate in the Slow Money Austin Showcase on Wednesday, April 21st. Slow Money Austin is a new organization seeking to build an investment fund for local and sustainable food enterprises. The participants in the showcase include a rancher, grocery stores, and restaurants like our brewpub.

On Saturday May 8th Bar Hours with the Board will venture east with a visit to The Liberty. Liberty is is located at 1618 1/2 E 6th St, and we’ll be there from 5-7 PM.
